In the book Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience the author teaches how, by ordering the information that enters our consciousness, we can discover true happiness, unlock our potential, and greatly improve the quality of our lives.
Flow is the experience of being so engaged in a task that you lose track of time. Flow is an optimal state of mind between boredom and anxiety where you perform and feel your best.
It's possible to turn your work tasks into flow producing activities by:
1. Warming up your focus so that you can direct it entirely on the task at hand.
2. Freeing yourself from worry and self‐scrutiny by periodically permitting yourself to work without your inner critic.
3. Assessing your progress after a short period of freedom.
4. Adjusting the challenge to be 4% harder than what you can comfortably do.
